Check out the first installment in my arts and pop culture podcast focusing on independent artists and their work. The first episode of Dram-Addict welcomes a long-time friend of mine on the theatrical stage.
NYU drama major John Thornton and I participated in countless musicals together throughout grade school. I can attest to his high level of skill. With experience not only as an actor and singer, but directing his own shows, John has a vibrant background in theater to match his clear and resonant passion for it. However, with that passion also comes an awareness of and the serious problems that have faced the U.S theater industry since its inception. Recorded via Zoom call from our respective creative studios, aka: our closets, John Thornton explains his background and love for theater, and why the theater industry as a whole is long overdue for systemic change to make it more accessible to everyone.
