Producing & Editing a Video-Podcast for Over Four Years

Last November, I officially passed the four-year mark with Everything Thought Leadership, a YouTube channel culminating from my father’s three-decade career as a thought leadership professional. I have spent four years crafting videos to help experts become thought leaders and to help the professionals they hire serve them better.

ETL’s content has evolved in that time and so have my capabilities as a video editor. What started with podcast episodes and trailers relying on basic text effects and Ken Burns-style b-roll has transformed into a smorgasbord of episodes, trailers, YouTube Shorts, and side series with more dynamic motion graphics, improved audio, better pacing and a more consistent brand identity. Our depth and breadth of content has grown, and I have grown into the editor I am today through my work for ETL.

Here is my current skill set: sequencing clips in Premiere, creating motion graphics in After Effects, using equalizers and limiters to enhance audio quality beyond what fades can do alone, color correcting and color grading, generating dynamic burned-in captions through Descript, enhancing video quality through Topaz AI, using Canva for thumbnail creation, and more.

And I’m just getting started. Without spoiling the exact details, my father and I have begun prep work on a new side series for ETL that takes a mini-documentary style approach. We look forward to sharing more details in the coming months. I am beyond excited to explore this new direction for the channel.

Everything Thought Leadership is an educational YouTube channel and video-podcast series from Buday Thought Leadership Professionals. We release episodes monthly on YouTube, preceded by trailers and followed by audio-podcast versions of each episode on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and SoundCloud.
